about
*Note*: this album is a free album. If you feel kind enough to support the band with a couple of bob then please do so here:

As of 2018, the University of Surrey Big Band has reached its 20th anniversary - 20 years of jazz, funk, rock, fusion, avant-guarde film music and latin. 20 years of raucous students and misplaced scores, of barge tours and shanty gigs, of camaraderie and chaos...
The members of the band change every year, as new students join the university and tired students leave. As such, 'The Hornshank Redemption' was made to commemorate this rich and changing history, and captures some of our favourite tracks. The album is in 2 parts; the first 3 tracks were recorded in the University of Surrey's famous Institute of Sound Recording, and the proceeding 6 tracks were recorded live at a gig in Wates House (the legendary campus pub where that guy won a game of pool once and got his mum arrested because of the escaped parrot)
We've had a blast this year, and we hope you enjoy it as much as you enjoy *insert your 2nd favourite hobby here*
Big band big love
